Terms of Using Shashura

The rules that govern your use of our Mobile Money gateway, payment links, SACCO ledger and merchant tools.

Last updated: October 2026

Shashura moves money on your instruction via MTN and Airtel Mobile Money. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials safe and for the accuracy of the phone numbers and amounts you submit. We charge a transparent fee for certain transactions, shown to you (or your customer) before the transaction is confirmed. We can suspend an account engaged in fraud, money laundering, or abuse of the service. Questions? Email info@shashura.com.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

Shashura is operated by Techdom Digital Solutions (U) Ltd, a company incorporated in Uganda ("we", "us", "our", "Shashura"). By creating an account, accessing our API, or using any Shashura payment link, checkout page, WhatsApp number or merchant dashboard, you ("you", "User") agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and by our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

If you are using Shashura on behalf of a business, SACCO or other organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Eligibility & Account Registration

  • You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts in Uganda.
  • You must provide accurate, current information at registration and keep it up to date, including your phone number, email and, for merchants, business and KYC details.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account, including actions taken by staff you invite under a merchant team. Keep your password and two-factor codes confidential; notify us immediately at info@shashura.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • We may decline to open, or may suspend, an account that fails identity verification (KYC), appears to be fraudulent, or is opened by someone we are legally prohibited from serving.
  • Merchant accounts progress through KYC levels that unlock higher transaction and withdrawal limits as more verification is completed. Limits in force at any time are shown in your dashboard.

3. The Services We Provide

Depending on your account type, Shashura may provide:

  • Collections: requesting payment from a customer's MTN or Airtel Mobile Money wallet, via API, a hosted payment link/checkout page, bulk payment requests, or our WhatsApp interface.
  • Disbursements: sending money from your Shashura wallet to a Mobile Money recipient, including one-off, bulk and scheduled withdrawals.
  • Payment links & subscriptions: shareable checkout pages, including recurring subscription billing with automated renewal reminders.
  • Short / branded links: a general-purpose link shortener with click analytics, separate from payment links.
  • SACCO ledger tools: member registration, savings, share contributions, guarantor-backed loans with flat or reducing-balance interest, and statements, for SACCOs using Shashura to digitise their books.
  • Developer API & webhooks: programmatic access to collections, disbursements and status callbacks, governed additionally by our API documentation and any per-app credentials issued to you.

We act as a technical and payment-facilitation intermediary between you, your customers, and MTN/Airtel. We are not a bank, and wallet balances held with us are not bank deposits or insured deposits.

4. Fees & Charges

  • Collections, disbursements, SACCO transactions and other chargeable actions carry a fee, calculated according to the rates in force at the time of the transaction and shown to you (or disclosed to your customer on the payment page) before it is confirmed.
  • Fees may change from time to time. Where we change a rate that affects you, we will update the rate shown in your dashboard; continued use of the service after a fee change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new rate.
  • You are responsible for any taxes, levies or statutory charges applicable to your transactions under Ugandan law, in addition to our service fee.
  • Mobile money network charges or taxes applied directly by MTN/Airtel to the sender or recipient are outside our control and are not part of our fee.

5. Your Responsibilities

  • Accuracy: you are responsible for the phone numbers, amounts, and recipient details you submit. Mobile money transfers are typically irreversible once the provider confirms them, so double-check before confirming a disbursement.
  • Lawful use: you will not use Shashura for money laundering, terrorism financing, fraud, pyramid/Ponzi schemes, unlicensed lending, gambling where prohibited, sale of illegal goods or services, or any purpose unlawful in Uganda.
  • Customer disclosure: if you use Shashura to collect payment from your own customers (e.g. via a payment link or checkout page), you remain the merchant of record to them, and you are responsible for delivering what you sold and for handling your own customer's complaints about your goods or services. Shashura is responsible only for the payment transaction itself.
  • SACCO administrators: if you operate a SACCO on Shashura, you remain responsible to your members for the SACCO's own governance, lending decisions and compliance with Ugandan Tier 4 Microfinance / SACCO regulation; Shashura provides the ledger tooling, not SACCO licensing or financial advice.
  • Security: you will not share API keys, webhook secrets or account credentials, and will notify us promptly of any suspected compromise.

6. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or close your account, or decline a specific transaction, where we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with the law, prevent fraud, protect other users, or respond to a request from MTN, Airtel, a regulator or law-enforcement body. Where practical, we will tell you why.

You may close your account at any time by contacting info@shashura.com, subject to settling any outstanding balance, fee, or pending transaction first. Closing your account does not erase transaction records we are legally required to retain (see our Privacy Policy).

7. Service Availability & Liability

  • We aim for high availability but do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Outages at MTN, Airtel, our hosting provider, or Meta's WhatsApp platform are outside our control.
  • We are not liable for delays or failures caused by MTN, Airtel, Meta, your bank, your internet/network provider, or events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure), including power or telecom outages.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by Ugandan law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid us for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim, except where the loss results from our fraud or gross negligence.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of business profit or opportunity, arising from use of the service.

8. Disputes & Transaction Queries

If a transaction appears wrong (money debited without a corresponding service, a failed transaction that still shows as deducted, or a disbursement sent to the wrong number because of our error), contact us immediately at info@shashura.com with the transaction reference. We investigate every report and will reconcile with MTN/Airtel where their systems are involved. See our Refund Policy for how corrections and refunds are handled.

9. Intellectual Property

The Shashura name, logo, platform design and software are owned by Techdom Digital Solutions (U) Ltd. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, resell, or white-label the platform without our prior written consent. You retain ownership of your own business data (customer lists, transaction notes, branding you upload for your payment links).

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves or Ugandan law changes. Material changes will be notified via email (where we have one for you) and an in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Continuing to use Shashura after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Uganda.
